Uttarakhand is gaining pace in India & on the tourism map. It is blessed with the Ganga, yoga, nature and of course the Himalayas to lure all kinds of travellers.

However, before you get to it, let us warn you, it is not for the faint hearted. While money is essential, you need to pump in a lot of passion to understand the psyche of your guests and cater to all that they will need during their stay with you. Explaining this is Aditi Balbir, a passionate traveller who soon turned it into motivation to become an entrepreneur. She is the CEO and Founder of V Resorts, a company with its chain of resorts across India.

Here are her crucial tips which you must keep in mind when starting your resort in the beautiful hills of Uttarakhand:

How to campaign?

Select a location

This is the most crucial of all. Whether you want to set it up at popular places like Nainital or Rishikesh or completely off beat places like Pangot or Malla Ramgarh, it’s your call. But you need to target the consumers well. If planning at popular destinations, competition is harsh. But in off beat places, you would only get niche clients and not regular walk ins. Take your decision wisely.

How many people do you need?

While this is a tricky one, it depends on how much comfort you want your guests to provide. Manpower ratio is 1 person for every room built. So if you have 10 rooms, you need to have 10 people working directly at the resort.

Infrastructure

“We prefer infrastructure to be suited to the local climate. So wood and stone is best. General requirements are activity room, kitchen, restaurant and maybe spa. We like elements such as fire places with real chimneys,” Aditi said.
